Jennifer graduated with honors from North Carolina Central
University School of Law in 2005. She graduated from the University
of North Carolina in 1996. While in law school, Jennifer was on the
Law Journal and Trial Team. She also volunteered with the Innocence
Project, which reviews claims of actual innocence by inmates in an
attempt to reverse false convictions, and Durham County's Guardian
ad Litem office, which provides a "voice in court" for
foster children.
Before beginning law school, Jennifer taught elementary and
middle school Spanish and English as a Second Language. Her
undergraduate degree was in Spanish education (Grades K -12), and
she received a North Carolina Teaching Fellows scholarship. As an
undergraduate, she studied abroad in lovely Seville, Spain.
Jennifer held several legal internships while in law school,
including with the Immigrants' Legal Assistance Project, the Durham
County Office of the Public Defender, and the Civil Division of the
United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North
Carolina. During her last year in law school continuing through the
present, she has worked for the Law Office of Laura S. Jenkins.
Jennifer is very interested in working with injured workers, and
particularly in helping the Latino community. She has been involved
with helping Latino immigrants to North Carolina through her former

Immigrants' Legal Assistance Project, and through her parish,
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham.
